In the days following my post on discarded Christmas trees there’s been an explosion (well, maybe just a “boom”) of photos of junked trees popping up all over this crazy internet. In a desperate attempt to keep this blog cutting edge, here’s an update on where you can get the *latest buzz* on tossed-out trees:
- Chirstmas Tree Carcasses: This Flickr group features over 150 decomissioned trees from around the globe. (via kottke.org).
- LondonXmasTrees: Flickr user jason_wen has been prowling the streets of London looking for the trees of Christmas past and is making some of the more dramatic images of this emerging genre.
(via BoingBoing). - Party’s Over > New York, January 2006: Nicely-done images of last year’s Manhattan Christmas carnage. (via BoingBoing).
- Station Wagons and Discarded Christmas Trees: Way back in 2001, a Brooklynite found a high rate of discarded trees and station wagons in the same scene. (via BoingBoing).
Oh, and in the spirit of sensible care for our environment (which probably starts with leaving the trees in the forest instead of dragging them into our hot, dry apartments in the first place) I offer this: a Google search for “christmas tree recycling.”

Why Not?
