The Week In Links | 09.26.08

Interesting bits from around the web for the week of September 22nd through 26th, 2008:

  • Pinhole skull-camera – Boing Boing
Completely ridiculous pinhole camera made by artist Wayne Martin Belger fashioned from the skull of a long-deceased 13 year-old girl. Interesting discussion on the ethics of such a thing in the comments at BoingBoing.
  • Lay Flat
The first issue of Shane Lavalette’s print venture will feature some good stuff: photos by Ed Panar, and essays by Tim Davis and Jason Fulford, among others.
  • Eyebeam reBlog: Andy Rooney on Public Art
The fear that I’m getting old is solidly reinforced by my agreement (mostly) with this commentary on public art by Andy Rooney.
  • humble arts foundation | solo show | ron jude
Excellent interview with Ron Jude about his “Alpine Star” project in which he removes photos from his small hometown newspaper from their original context. Jude: “The suspension of narrative is at the heart of what I love about photography. It occurs naturally most of the time in any photograph, and my job is to finesse these ambiguous narratives, whether they’re in found images or my own, into something that’s coherent, yet still a moving target in terms of meaning.”
