Unpacking and re-shelving books is one of the pleasures of moving. So often, the volumes that deeply influenced me reside quietly undisturbed on shelves or, worse, in boxes. Packing, moving, and re-shelving allows me a brief touch of each one: a reacquaintance.
They are dear to me, and the process of their placement on this new bookcase is a long one as I page through many, remembering the times of my life when I discovered each one.

oh me too, old friend, me too. i am deeply attached to my books. i hope you two are happily settling into your new home. and i hope you both come visit soon!
