Intermission (1963) by Edward Hopper and Lady in a Rooming House Parlor, Albion, N.Y. (1963) by Diane Arbus
Were I blessed with complete dominion over time and space, I’d beam myself to San Francisco to see Edward Hopper & Company at Fraenkel Gallery. It’s on view until May 2; hopefully my teleportation ability will kick in before then. Or perhaps I’ll buy the book.
If a photography show featuring Robert Adams, Diane Arbus, Harry Callahan, William Eggleston, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Stephen Shore weren’t enough, the images are paired with Edward Hopper paintings from roughly the same era.
A show to celebrate the presence of something in the air, or water, or whatever that causes a joyful infection of shared vision.
